What Is Running Meditation?
Meditation is awareness, it is not concentration, and awareness means to watch! For instance you are running- but if you are like most you are running whiles asleep-automatically, you are not running with awareness. And when you run without awareness you are running mechanically –you are running with effort. This is true because when you run without awareness , your mind becomes active and takes control and your run becomes a burden rather than effortless. And mind left uncheck when running will play tricks on you, it will say
“Stop running”
“You can’t do this”
“I am tired-body is tired”
This happens because mind thinks it is in control-but it is not
Awareness does not involve using the senses. Senses are mind and if you use the senses mind is involved. So what can we do?
We can use the senses to make the mind one pointed then we can dive deep and go beyond the mind, to the source of the mind
For instance close your eyes and what do you see? Blackness and thoughts as I just described above
Now what if you simply just watched those thoughts. Do not judge them or acknowledge them, simply look at them. How do you look? Look as you could look at the clouds inn the sky. Let them pass, do not say the thought is true or false simply watch the though. If you do this your mind will hit a silence. It sounds simple but it difficult, if you can do this then perhaps you can watch the screen on which these thought arise and are on
This is Zen running or meditation
The key to running meditation is to become aware, be alert-do nothing mechanically or automatically runs with full attention to your mind and senses- it is the direct route to getting the runners high
